# Review and activate a journey

Activation makes the journey available to eligible learners. This chapter covers first publication, separately from updates and replay decisions.

These are teaching examples. Interactive practice affects only this page and does not send email, publish or submit learning results. Complete actual work in the product.

## 09 Review the preview, then confirm activation

1. Check the actual stage count, contents, order, and rules, and wait for saved positions. The example has three stages; a single-material journey should have one.
2. Select “Activate journey” in the editor and wait for the publication preview. Opening this dialog has not activated it.
3. Review the name, audience, deadline, complete stage list, and affected learners. If the list is wrong, close the dialog and correct audience or member identities first.
4. Select “Activate journey” at the bottom of the dialog. Wait for success and check that the journey status becomes “Active”.

This is the first activation, not a later content update. Saving a draft, opening a preview and activating are different states.

**What you should see**The dialog closes, an activation confirmation appears and the journey changes from Draft to Active. Continue with learner verification rather than stopping at the manager screen.

When the result is different

A disabled button may mean no stages or pending position saves. For unexpected people, close the preview and correct workspace, membership, identities and audience. Resolve preview or activation errors and review a fresh preview before retrying.

## 10 Verify the learner experience, then begin tracking

1. Ask an intended learner who has joined the organization and has the selected identity to open “My journey” in the same workspace. Have them find the journey by name.
2. Ask them to select the first stage, open its material, meet its clear rule, and return to “My journey” to check the result. The learner guide explains starting and returning from a stage.
3. For a one-stage journey, check that the stage and journey are complete. For several stages, check that the first is cleared and the next is available; the remaining stages still need to be completed in order.
4. As the manager, open journey progress in Analytics, choose the same journey and publication version, and review learner progress.

Manager editing access does not prove learner eligibility. Launching a stage is not completing or clearing it; check progress after the content reports its result.

**What you should see**The learner can find the journey and open the correct content. After meeting the clear rule, a single-stage journey should be complete; a multi-stage journey should show this stage cleared and the next available. The manager can select the corresponding publication version in analytics and check actual learner progress.

When the result is different

For a missing journey, check workspace, invitation acceptance, identity and activation in that order. For a missing clear, check the rule and whether results have been reported. Do not recreate the account or issue a replay requirement as the first response.
